About CI001: Headspace
OPXLA was founded with the belief that if every single person (pixel) works towards being the best and brightest they can be, that the world will be a better place. That through hard work, understanding, and genuine action that we can make that positive impact we so desire in our communities, industries, and the world.
Thus, we’re more than pleased that OPXLA’s first Charity Initiative will be fundraising for Headspace National Youth Mental Health Foundation. Headspace is an Australian non-profit organisation for youth mental health, established by the Australian government in 2006. The project is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing under the Youth Mental Health Initiative Program and was created in response to the recognition that the existing health system needed to be much more accessible and effective for young people with mental and substance use disorders. With more than 100 centres across Australia, Headspace provides general and mental health advice, education and employment services, and help with alcohol and drug issues.
Headspace aims to improve access, and service cohesion and quality, and ultimately health and social outcomes, for young people aged 12–25 years experiencing mental illness and related substance use problems. To elaborate, Headspace aims to:
- build greater awareness of youth mental health within specific communities, as well as nationally, to encourage young people with mental health concerns to seek appropriate help and to do so earlier.
- build the capacity of several Australian communities, their young people and their families to:
- ensure early detection and early intervention in emerging mental and substance use disorders;
- create youth- and family-friendly service environments;
- benefit from significant improvements in access, service integration and quality, through co-location, secondment of clinical staff and outreach; and
- access evidence-based interventions for the treatment of mental and substance use disorders.
It’s because of these aims that OPXLA reached out to Headspace to be the organisation that we support with our first Charity Initiative (CI001) fundraiser. Supporting each other by actively creating that change we want to see in our communities. Saying we support our community and actually following through means the world to us, and throughout this event (and beyond) we hope to continue to show this to everyone.
$5k – Founder & CEO Milky Pixel will sacrifice her mouth for the betterment of the community by eating 5 WHOLE CUPS of Paldo Volcano Chicken Noodles. Our Queen believes in getting in there and doing what it takes to truly support our community, and if seeing her in huge amounts of mouth burning sadomasochistic hilarity can incentivize people to donate to a good cause, then she’s all for it!
$7.5k – This donation goal is specifically for Pixels who have become members of OPXLA. If this donation goal is reached, we’ll be launching a full blown Minecraft server exclusively for members of the OPXLA community to have explore and have fun in.
$10k – Now, if we manage to hit and surpass this goal, Founder & CEO Milky Pixel will completely shave her head. If and when this donation goal is achieved, the event will be streamed live through the official OPXLA Twitch Channel. As above, our Queen believes in the sacrifice and dedication it takes to show just how much this community and industry means to her. And if that means shaving her beloved long purple ombré locks for a good cause, she will lovingly oblige.
For the betterment of our community and to walk that walk. These are the sentiments behind the donation goals above
Genji Overwatch 11.75″ Premium Statue
Earlier this year Milky Pixel attended the Blizzard Content Creator Mixer event at Blizzard ANZ HQ in Sydney, Australia. Every attendee recieved a raffle ticket upon arrival. Incidentally when the time of the night came to draw the raffle, Milky ended up winning one of the prize packs. One of the things in the prize pack was the Genji Overwatch 11.75″ Premium Statue. Knowing in her heart that she needed to save it (also having absolutely no space in her room to display it), she decided to wait until something good could come of it. That something good is CI001. With the box unopened and statue untouched within, CI001 donators now have the chance to score the statue for themselves.
For your chance to score the statue whilst donating to CI001 supporting the amazing Headspace, simply donate exactly $25¹ and once CI001 wraps up at the end of January, a name will be drawn² at random from the $25 donators, the person contacted promptly for further details to claim/recieve their reward³, and the appropriate social media announcements posted⁴.
¹ One entry into the draw per donator. Donating more than once will not create multiple chances to win. Donators may donate other amounts towards the event as much and as often as they choose. However, these donations will not go towards the draw.
² Name will be drawn at random, on Saturday 1st of February, 2020 and contacted within 48hrs.
³ All postage and handling fees for the shipment of the reward will be incurred by Milky Pixel Founder & CEO of OPXLA.
⁴ All promotional social media posts will be posted on official OPXLA social media accounts. Any mention of the winner’s name will be with full permission from said winner. These permissions will be established when contacting the winner for their prize after the event has concluded.
